Our neighborhood is alive with youth who love to come to "The Friendship".
The Friendship's After School Program, for grades K-8, provides
homework assistance and
tutoring
in a positive, nurturing environment. The children experience a variety
of enhancement opportunities including music, dance, community involvement, mentoring,
tutoring, roller skating, homework help, field trips, computer
lab, 4-H, arts and crafts, sports special field trips and more. After school membership is available at a nominal fee per session.
Special events include our Simple Supper, Christmas Tree Lane, and
special community events.
Service Learning - Our youth plan and implement service projects, outreaching to community partners and driving the
project with their own efforts. The youth are actively involved in
identifying units. They have been involved in service learning
projects for the following topics: anti-hunger, animal cruelty
prevention, anti-bully, and neighborhood appreciation. As opposed to community service, service-learning's outcome is a character building
experience that we hope develops civic pride and responsibility in our children. As the youth
continue on their journey,
they will create a page that will be
assessable from this web page.
We provide a summer camp for 100-200 children each summer. Scholarships
for children whose parents cannot afford the fee are available. Fees are $25 per child ($75 for 3 or more in the same family)
per session. Two sessions are offered each
summer. Program hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the eight week
program. Camp activities for children ages 5-12. Sports, computers, fitness, swimming,
arts and crafts, nature and community
activities.
