FAQWhat is Friendship House? Friendship House is an ecumenical ministry that enables communities of faith to reach out to Peoria's communities in need. It is a dynamic ministry of Christian caring that seeks resources to help resolve the concerns of socially, spiritually, physically, and economically depressed individuals and families. Where is Friendship House located? Friendship House is located in the North end of Peoria at 800 N.E. Madison Street When was Friendship House founded? Friendship House was incorporated in April of 1951. What are the founding denominations of Friendship House? American Baptist, United Methodist Church, Disciples of Christ, the Presbytery of Peoria, and the Congregational Christian Conference provided the ecumenical base of support for Friendship House programs which continues today. What kind of services does Friendship House offer? The PFCHS provides: Emergency Services (Food Pantry and Rent/Utility Assistance); Children and Youth Services, (Child Care, After School, and Summer Camp); Transitional Services (Dress for Success, Donated Used Vehicles, Learn to Earn, GED, Mentoring, and Sick Child Care); Health Services (Clinic). Where does funding for Friendship House come from? PFCHS funding comes from the Heart of Illinois United Way, churches, individuals, grants and foundations, community support and fund raisers. What population does Friendship House serve? PFCHS serves community which is 91% African American, 7% Hispanic and 2% Asian, Caucasian or other. 80% of our service area consists of individuals caring for families with an average annual income below $12,000. How can I support this mission? You or your business can support PFHCS either through monetary donations or in-kind donations of clothing in good condition, non-perishable food items or a used car vehicle for the Wheels for Work. Donations Dress for Success How can I volunteer at Friendship House? Friendship House could always use computer or homework helpers or people willing to sort and hang clothing at the Thrift Store.
