Adopt-A-Street
 |
The
after school program proudly poses in front of the Adopt-A-Street sign
outside of the Friendship House building. The youth march the
800-1200 blocks of Perry, Monroe, and Madison every six-eight weeks,
cleaning up their neighborhood. The children feel a sense of
community belonging and pride. |

Heifer International Read-to-Feed
| Heifer
International's Read-to-Feed Program gave students the chance to
implement an ordinary, daily activity into a service-learning
project. The project introduces children to giving the gift of
livestock to needy families across the globe. The children
read a number of books and sponsors pledged money per book.
During one "Read-a-Thon," students from North Minster
Presbyterian Church visited and read with the children. As an end
result to the project, the youth used their math skills and their
knowledge of animals and the animals' benefits to families to buy
and send one llama, a trio of rabbits, and some ducks and geese to
those in need. |
